Happy 30th Birthday to the PC

Image
INDIANAPOLIS - Thirty years ago, on August 12, 1981, IBM introduced what we know as the PC – or the personal computer,  IBM 5150. What we know as a PC today and what they produced a little over a quarter of a century ago are vastly different. We now can hold a computer in one hand – i.e. netbook – that can hold millions of more bytes of data than the IBM 5150. It’s amazing. It’s a miracle. And to quote a very distinguished philosopher – * cough cough * comedian – Louie C.K., “It’s magic,” and we should be grateful for even having something like this. Seriously, though, in 30 short years we have gone from big, clunky, tan boxes to slim, sleek micro-machines that contain tons of our very important info, photos, movies and games. We can toss it in a bag and go, whether it’s our smart phone, our netbook or an iPad. We are mobile. We have definitely evolved. If you watch this awesome commercial for the IBM 5150, you’ll see that people had that same feeling about the original PC, because it

Cassette Audio Adaptor

Image
My brother's car (which I currently drive) is around 8 years old. When it was bought, it had a CASSETTE AUDIO PLAYER installed. And as everyone knows, cassettes are just "almost" out dated. I usually have 2 or 3 cassettes in the glove compartment of the car, for musical entertainment purposes... But that never seems enough and I always wonder how it would be possible for me to hijack my car's stereo speakers and hook 'em up to my cell phone. Either that, or I record the music I like from my phone/pc onto record-able cassettes... which would be a pain to say the least. Just a week back, on Friday the 15th of July, I sat in the back seat of a team-mate's car. She had a weird looking cassette player installed in her 10yr old Marutti 800. The player had an even weirder looking cassette installed which had a cable coming out of it, ending in a 3.5" audio jack. So my friend (who was in the front seat of the car) asked her casually what the cassette and wire c

A Divine Occurence

Here is the testimony of a U.S citizen. Read on My Testimony       I, place before you the Divine event that took place with me.       It was 23 rd   March أ‚آ’2011 (Wednesday). I left the house for office at 06:40 a.m. and as usual began my day out with a rosary.  I had a busy day in the office and had to work till 19:00 hours. I reached home at around 20:15 hours, after refreshing myself I decided to have some tea and watch some cricket highlights.       At around 21:00 hours, I took-off for a stroll with my wife and returned home at around 21:45 p.m. I was very tired so went for a shower and since I was tired, just lied down on the bed, In the mean time my wife was cooking for us some dinner أ‚آ …later she entered the bedroom and saw me asleep, as it was late, we decided to skip rosary and have our dinner, after our dinner, I was refreshed and decided to watch some T.V news related to Japan Earthquake /Tsunami. Libya crisis, .etc .for around 30 minutes.       It was aroun

Love Letters

As I swear, In truth, the love that I felt, So many sleepless nights passed, Writing to you... Trivial letters, Which was my only reason for living, Letter great and long, all the same, All to my suffering... Love Letters Which of us don't have? Love Letters, Bits of pain, Someones feelings, Love Letters, Swallows Each they take and bring, they carry them well, my memories and wishes, Love Letters, Which of us don't have... But thee, Not even a love letter thou wants, An ordinary letter did I receive, Just to ease my pain, But still, for you,  I'd never leave anything to write But, you know very well, that for me, You are all I live for. Love Letters Which of us don't have? Love Letters, Bits of pain, Someones feelings, Love Letters, Swallows Each they take and bring, they carry them well, my memories and wishes, Love Letters, Which of us don't have...

Making the Shift to Google+

Image
Hey! So I've now got my google+ account... Now what?  Well, for some reason I feel like google is going to overthrow the great Facebook from its mighty throne and there seem to be many applications to help google do that.  Many devs are developing various applications to help make the migration easier. I would like to discuss some of those methods here: Friends Well no app here, but Google makes it really easy to add a friend to Google+, so no need for 3rd party interference there Photos  Most of us Facebook users have tons of photographs uploaded into our Facebook albums. A nice little application "Move2Facebook" helps us migrate all our photographs from Facebook to Picasa. Ain't that just awesome? I think so... I am currently running this application and hope that it does what it promises. The application comes as an extension to Google chrome. This is what it currently looks like. Move 2 Picasa Anyway, to make it easier for you, here is the

My Last Days at Home :-(

Hmmm.... Where do I start... A couple of years due to problems my family was having with our ancestral home we decided to start building a new house a few kilometers away from our current home... Finally, its on the verge of completion and its now dawned on me that these might be the last few days I'l be sleeping in my old room and on my old bed ... well, not really since I'm taking my bed with me :-) Now I'm quite excited to be shifting... I think all new things get me perked up and exited. What I'm more excited about is about my room and my attic, the plans for which I've designed. I'm still not sure about whats gonna go in them as yet... I'm a little sad to leave my old home at the same time... I'm now starting to get a little nostalgic of the good Ol' days.. I can still remember the days when the whole family, wherever they lived (from Europe to America or North to South of India), would come to Goa and stay in my Avo's house. We woul
